Rated by Trip Advisor with five stars it attracts over a million visitors a year. Open from 8am and 9pm every day, it is free and is the destination for runners, walkers and cyclists (in lanes). Others make use of the fitness equipment or contemplate in the outdoor labyrinth. Children of varying ages, including toddlers, have access to two different playgrounds. It is dog friendly but they must be on a leash. The park provides spectacular views of Table Mountain and Lions Head. The wetlands fed by fresh water from Table Mountain are home to numerous species of birds. The biodiversity garden offers an instructive insight through interactive boards into the flora and fauna of the Western Cape. Families enjoy picnics in a number of areas that have tables and benches but equally popular is Tea in the Park which offers sweet and savoury treats, health breakfasts and light lunches summer and winter.
